Description

Understand and examine th emthods of perceiving and strategizing environmental issues of concern for Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. This course will focus cultural beliefs and ethics concerning environmental issues as they relate to the current energy development and its environmental impact. Other general environmental topics related to natural resource development will also be addressed. As the issues are clarified the potential for energy and resource perspectives will allow for strategic planning for long term sustainable scenarios to be summarized. Collaboration and research will be done with student groups and faculty projects to be developed in the class with the collaboration and review of environmental agencies and other university sources. Cultural input will be part of the collaborative efforts of this dynamic, interdisciplinary and problem solving science course. Pre-requisite: BIO 422 or by permission of the instructor.
